The American Potato Trade Alliance – Solving International Challenges for the Processing Channels of the Industry

The American Potato Trade Alliance (APTA) brings together growers, processors, and quick service restaurants to address international trade issues affecting U.S. frozen and dehy exports. Founded by McDonald’s in 1998, APTA has had huge victories over the past twenty years including reducing fry and dehy tariffs, keeping the Taiwan fry market open after greening was discovered and the issue went viral, and saving the Korean fry market when a pesticide MRL was not established by accident. This panel will explain APTA and its importance to the U.S. potato industry, and what issues are facing processed potato exports in the future.
