As the understanding of plant genetics continues to evolve at a rapid pace, we see the breeding methods being used evolving as well. Tools such as gene editing are enabling plant breeders to be more precise and efficient in their efforts to develop new, more resilient varieties. Also, the introduction of true potato seed (TPS) breeding enables potato breeders to focus on desired traits such as disease resistance, nutrient characteristics and higher yield. This session will focus on the current status of TPS in the U.S. and the opportunities in the future.
